The semi-annual Suntree/Viera Library book sale is a fun way to save money and support the library.
A treasure hunt of bargain books will include selections in young adult, children, fiction, non-fiction and cooking categories. Large print titles also are very popular, as are gardening, crafts, travel and sports books. Everything is $2 or less.
According to Bobbie Shaw, a Friends of the Library member, there will be a “huge selection” this year. Biographies, history and military, health and cooking, religion and self-help will all be for sale. Arts, poetry and the classics? You will find those at the book sale as well.
“All the proceeds go to the Friends of the Library, who in turn provide everything the library needs,” Shaw said.
Funds are used for computers, children's events and programs, even window washing not provided by the county, Shaw said.
Most of the money goes to library programs and new books.
“We hope to see everyone,” Shaw said. “We have people come from Titusville and beyond, and they think this is special.”
People can donate books to the library sale by bringing them in to the front desk or by contacting the library. The library also is seeking charities to pick up remaining books after the sale at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 28.
Shaw also mentioned there will be a preview for members of the Friends of any Brevard Library, with their Friends membership cards, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 25.
Look for the giant striped balloon across from the library on the property owned by Dr. Hardoon of Suntree Medical Associates.
The book sale opens to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 26 and continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, April 27. For real bargain-basement prices, come on Saturday April 28 for the bag sale. All patrons can fill their bag for $5, and all bag sizes pass muster.
