Calling all parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles of young children who love the holiday season. Now is the time to get some holly jolly holiday spirit.

The Suntree Master Homeowners Association invites all to come to the Suntree Winter Festival, a free, family-fun event to be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday Dec. 3 at Jack Mahon Park, 7550 Spyglass Hill Road in Suntree.

As usual, Santa will make his yearly appearance to hear all of the children’s naughty or nice holiday wishes starting at 4:15 p.m. A Santa story time will be featured where children young and old will gather ‘round to hear Jolly Ole Nick recite the classic, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” at 4:30 p.m.

This year’s event features new activities and entertainment. In addition to a wide offering of winter activities and games, there will be a cookie decorating table sponsored by Remax Absolute. Children can get their exercise by jumping in the bounce houses set up on the lawn. A new and special activity this year will be a snow slide where the young can squeal with delight as they land in "fake" snow at the bottom. This year’s event also features a dance party with holiday music, “where kids can dance beneath the flurries,” said Heather Murdoch, SMHA Parks and Recreation Committee chair.

Uno Pizzeria & Grill, the presenting sponsor, will  cater delicious foods and drinks for purchase. And, of course, one could not host such an event without hot chocolate.

The SMHA invites all to attend this neighborhood event and is expecting 500 to 750 attendees. Located between several northern Suntree neighborhoods, the park can be easily accessed by walkers and bike riders. The SMHA parking lot will be closed during the event. But, grass parking is available across the street from the park. Additional run-off parking will be available on Autumn Glen Drive.
