Teams from Baytree National Golf Links, Duran Golf Club and Viera East Golf Club played the Fall 2017 Interclub Challenge Cup during two weekends in October.
The event featured 20 golfers from each club playing in a Ryder Cup like fashion comprised of two-man teams playing an alternate shot, scramble and best-ball format.
The Viera East Men’s team won the first round, which was played at Duran Golf Club.
Viera East maintained its lead after a second-round scramble played at Viera East. Duran and Baytree followed in second and third, respectively.
Tim Brown and Peter Maloney each carded five birdies on the front nine, and Bob Urban added a hole-in-one as Viera East played well in the two-man, best-ball format during the final round at Baytree National Golf Links.
Viera East finished first, Duran was second and Baytree placed third. Lane Burney, the captain of the Viera East squad, accepted the trophy for the squad and the hardware is displayed prominently in the proshop.
