Description

ROCKLEDGE Why is health care so expensive and what can Floridians be doing about it?

Next week, on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 12-13), advocates and stakeholders across the Sunshine State are gathering in Rockledge for the two-day, “2019 fight Like Health Summit.”

The summit, taking place at the Space Coast Health Foundation's Center for Collaboration, 1100 Rockledge Blvd. (U.S. 1) features discussions on oral health, disabilities and aging advocates, as well as a training boot camp on improving health value through advocacy.

This year’s conference features keynotes Carol Gentry, founder of Health News Florida, and Sister Simone Campbell (author of “A Nun on the Bus: How All of Us Can Create Hope, Change, and Community”)

Also at the event, The Altarum Institute plans to release the Florida CHESS report examining Floridians’ unbiased views on a wide range of health system issues, including the financial burden of care, confidence using the health system, and views on the fixes that might be needed. The Altarum Institute, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a nonprofit health systems systems research and consulting organization that serves government, nonprofit and private-sector clients. Altarum is sponsoring the health care value boot camp.
