Description

MELBOURNE, FLA.—Florida Tech’s Ruth Funk Center for Textile Arts announces its 2020 New Docent Training Program. The Center will host a New Docent Mixer for interested participants in the Funk Center’s second-floor mezzanine. Light refreshments will be served.

“The mixer will be a great chance to chat with some of our current docents and find out why the Ruth Funk Center is a great place to volunteer,” says Donna Sewell, the Center’s manager of visitor services. Those interested in attending the mixer are asked to RSVP.

Anyone with an interest in the arts, who would like to learn more about textiles and enjoys working with the public can become an advocate for cultural enrichment by becoming a docent at the Center. The training program will present an intimate look into the world of fiber arts through unique demonstrations and lectures.

The Center is located next to Evans Library on the Florida Tech campus in Melbourne at 150 W. University Blvd. Admission is free. The current exhibit Ubuhle Women: Beadwork and the Art of Independence continues through April 25.
