The Viera Woman’s Club is hosting a dinner dance, For the Love of Children, on Saturday, March 19, at the Suntree Country Club. Proceeds will sponsor up to three Brevard children at Camp Boggy Creek this summer.

The camp, located in Eustis, is a special place where children with serious health issues can safely act like children.

Co-chair Esther Williams said, “We want to be sure the families aren’t charged for the week-long session.”

During their week at the 232-acre camp, children have access to round-the-clock medical care, including nursing and a pediatrician; plus all the fun things camp offers.

A full-sized pool, horseback riding, archery, theater, crafts, fishing and the opportunity to make new friends are some of what Camp Boggy Creek offers.

“When the Viera Woman’s Club visited the camp, we had the chance to see some of the kids who were there and just to see the happiness on their faces was amazing,” Williams said. “They adjust the camp to suit the children and focus on the needs of the children for that week. We’re excited to be able to create an event that will help us help some of the children in our county.”

For the Love of Children begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar. Diners can choose from beef, chicken or vegetarian fare and participate in the silent auction as well as opportunities for prizes.

Pearl Joy and Howard, a dynamic dance group, will provide musical entertainment.

“Representatives from the camp, and possibly some children, will be there to speak,” Williams said.

Tickets must be purchased in advance and cost $70.

“The purchase of each ticket is truly for the love of the children,” Williams said. “It covers the invitation, dinner, live entertainment and some amazing silent auction items anyone would be happy to bid on.”

Seating is limited to the first 180 to purchase tickets, but the Viera Woman’s Club will be happy to accept donations toward camp scholarships for Brevard’s seriously ill children.

Suntree Country Club is located at 1 Country Club Dr., just off Wickham Road, in Suntree.
