Dorcas Circle schedules its spring Attic Treasures and Bake Sale
The Dorcas Circle will hold its spring Attic Treasures and Bake Sale on March 10 at Suntree United Methodist Church at 7400 N. Wickham Road. The sale will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.
The Dorcas Circle consists of a group of approximately 50 women who meet monthly for the purpose of doing community service. Dorcas spent her life doing good deeds and helping the poor. The Circle’s mission is to follow Dorcas’ example doing good deeds and helping the poor.
Treasures offered for sale include, but are not limited to, small appliances, cookware, glassware, antiques/collectibles, seasonal items, jewelry, bedding, linens, books, toys, sporting goods, pictures, mirrors, silk flowers, CDs, DVDs, miscellaneous items and baked goods from Dorcas‘ finest bakers. No clothes, old TVs or electronics, old telephones or computers are accepted or sold.
Proceeds from the sale will go to local charities such as:
Daily Bread: A soup kitchen in Melbourne that feeds more than 200 people daily.
Devereux: Provides behavioral, developmental disability and residential care for children in the area.
Salvation Army Women’s Shelter: Provides assistance for victims of domestic abuse.
Gabrielle Place (formerly called Space Coast Center for Mothers with Children): It provides shelter and job training for mothers.
Donated items to be sold can be brought to the church worship center from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 9. Items also can be picked up by calling Merle Gelles at 321-504-9917 or Connie McCavour at 321-482-5906.
