The Brevard Tropical Fruit Club is offering generous prizes of $500, $350 and $150 for the winners of its Brevard Tropical Fruit Club Student Art Contest.

Students are invited to create artwork illustrating a tree sale event that can include people, trees, tropical fruit, event signs and anything else the artist chooses for the scene. Selected winning artwork might be used for publication or promotional material for the club’s annual tree sale event.

The contest is open to Brevard County children in grades nine through 12. All children in public schools, private schools, charter schools and home-school environments are encouraged to enter.

The artwork must be original and created by one individual. No teamwork or collaboration is allowed. The artwork can’t include any copyrighted characters, symbols, logos or direct replication of published images.

It must be vertical in format and no larger than 15 by 21 inches. Students are asked to use 2D art media only such as drawings, paintings or printing with colored pencils, marker pens, watercolor or acrylic paint, or digital images created by using a computer.

The art poster of composition and design should creatively incorporate the following text:
• Brevard Tropical Fruit Club Tree Sale

• April 28, 2018

• Melbourne Auditorium

All entrants should attach a contest label and permission slip to the back of the art poster.

Art poster entries should be delivered between 9 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Jan. 13 to Buena Vida Estates at 2129 West New Haven Avenue in West Melbourne.

After being reviewed for a week by judges and the public, all art posters should be ready to be picked up before the closing of the event at 4 p.m. Jan. 21.
