The golf season is in full swing at the Viera East Golf Course with fun and competitive monthly events such as the VEMA Cup and the Winter Scramble.

The VEMA Cup is a two-man, two-day event combining a scramble format with a best-ball format to determine the flight winners. A number of the matches came down to the 18th hole to determine the winner.

The VEMA Cup first flight winners were Dennis Lamb and Bob Urban. Harry Martin and Ed Raleigh won the second flight, Craig Smith and Steve Vasilevich won the third flight, and Paul Winter and Jay Fields won the fourth flight.

The second event in February was the Winter Scramble involving both VEMA and the ladies league, VELGA, with a luncheon at Divots restaurant immediately after the event.

The top three finishers were separated by one stroke each. The winning team was Pat Waters, Marchelle Zweber and Tom Walker. Second place went to Steve Wing, John Perino, Judy Mammay and Pam Nesgoda, and third place to Ed Raleigh, Mike Schmitt, David Hill and Barbara Kurr.
