Viera academies host ninth annual golf fundraiser at Baytree

A golf event to benefit Viera High’s Academy of Business and Finance and the Academy for Communication, Art + Design is set to take place March 18.

The ninth Annual VHS Academy Classic will take place at the Baytree National Golf Links with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.

The cost is $80 a player or $300 per foursome, though the price will jump to $100 a player and $375 per foursome two weeks prior to the event.

Players will get breakfast, lunch, a raffle ticket and a goodie bag along with having their course fees covered. There will also be closest-to-the-pin and longest drive competitions during the round, which will be played in a scramble format.

There also will be gifts and prizes. First place will receive four rounds of golf at Baytree and a gift card. There will be gift cards — and a surprise — for the second- and third-place finishers.

And not that you should tank the round, but there also is a surprise gift package for last place.

A brochure put out by the school states that the academies are “designed to help students become better prepared to enter the job market, secondary education opportunities or continuing adult education. These goals are achieved by instilling a professional culture in the classroom, providing industry certification opportunities and project-based curricula.”

It goes on to say that community support through financial contributions, internship or volunteer opportunities in the student’s field of study, or even guest speaker appearances can play a crucial role in ensuring the future of success of VHS students.

Sponsorship packages for the golf event are available. The early deadline for the event is March 3 (bring your check to the school), though registration forms will be accepted up to the day of
the event.
