Dr. Frank G. Ditz describes his new medical building, soon to open this month, as “a center of medical excellence.” He has yet to name the new facility.

The facility, tucked away in Suntree Place adjacent to Suntree Country Club, will be “a very personal practice.” Ditz’s family medical practice will continue its focus on medical excellence, wellness and preventative health, while providing a home-away-from-home atmosphere for patients.

“Opening this medical facility has been a dream of mine since I was 4 years old,” Ditz said.

Hidden from the hustle and bustle of Wickham Road, the facility features the latest in privacy and security. It is equipped with cameras on each floor, magnetic locks, and is constructed to withstand a Category 4 hurricane.

The property has a gated entrance, as well as a private back entrance. It is accessible to patients via St. Andrew’s Boulevard. Suntree and Baytree residents are invited to park their golf carts on the premises, too.

A health and wellness fair, along with tours of the building, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 12.

The 14,500-square-foot Southern plantation-style building exhibits a touch of Mediterranean flair. It proudly displays an old Chicago brick exterior and features promontory second- and third-floor balconies, accessible only from the upper-story waiting rooms. Plans also are in the making for building a deck on the south side of the property for the unique purpose of hosting medical talks and gatherings.

The building was designed by Dave Nagrodsky Associates, Architect, and constructed by RUSH Construction, Inc.

In keeping with the Space Coast’s launch tradition of “321,” a description of each level and the services provided therein might give everyone a feel for the new facility.

Third floor

The Family Practice of Suntree will be relocating from 6420 3rd Street, Suite 104 in Rockledge to the third floor. Here, it will continue to offer its concierge services, offering personal care and prevention and lengthier appointments ranging from 45 to 90 minutes.

Second floor

State-of-the-art medical technology such as platelet-rich plasma and stem cell therapies will be available here. The second floor also will serve as a “cash-based, one-stop shop” offering blood tests, eye exams, CT scans, MRIs and other diagnostic services. Area specialists willing to serve as revolving doctors are invited to participate.

First floor

Health and wellness ancillary services, or perhaps a healthy snack bar, are welcome to submit their proposals for use of the first floor. Construction plans for accommodating their needs are flexible and can be built to suit.

Even though the property at Suntree Place was purchased in 2010 and the ground was broken in February 2017, this facility has been a vision in the making since Ditz was 4 years old.

Influenced by the television program, “I Dream of Jeannie,” the young boy had some interesting goals.

“I always wanted to be a doctor, a pilot, and an astronaut,” Ditz said.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ditz completed his medical residency at the David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California.

Ditz then worked as an F15 pilot and flight surgeon in the Air Force, serving in Japan and at Patrick Air Force Base before establishing his own private medical practice in Suntree in 2001.

Ditz’s impressive military career included treating senators, congressmen and senior military officers. He also was invited to apply for NASA’s prestigious astronaut program and was asked to be Vice President Al Gore’s personal physician.

However, Ditz gracefully declined both offers.

Ditz currently is accepting new patients. For more information, contact Ditz and his staff at 321-254-3944 or go to
