Battle of the Badges returns for some fiery competition
Last year’s inaugural Battle of the Badges was a success. It featured Brevard County Firefighters from Station 48: Renzo Fiorini, left, Gavin Bowen, Allen Webb, Jesse Radig, Alex Valladores and Jason Moran. Sheriff deputies Cyril Teekasingh, Amanda King and Stuart Center also excelled in the event.

What’s better than meeting up with your local First Responders? How about being able to judge their cooking and baking skills?
The second annual Battle of the Badges will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 at the Brevard County Government Center.
Teams from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office will include First Responders from the fire department and law enforcement officers.
Teams will compete in three separate cooking competitions — traditional barbecue, chili and a cupcake bake-off.
Tasting will begin at 11 a.m. and it will run until 1 p.m. The winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
Along with the cooking competitions, there also will be a display of law enforcement and fire rescue vehicles. The vehicles will be parked for the duration of the event.
The competition between the teams will be judged by the attendees, who will vote on the best barbecue, chili and cupcakes.
