Franchisee Jeff Lader of Orlando opened the 1,000 square foot location June 22 at 6395 N. Wickham Rd. as his first of three salons to be developed in Brevard County under an agreement with the national brand.

“I chose Suntree for the first location because there’s just a lot of growth in the area and more opportunity than there is in Orlando. Most of the Brevard County Supercuts are corporate owned, but with the growth in this area they are opening up opportunities for new franchises,’’ he said.

With more than 2,400 no-appointment-required salons across the country, Supercuts is known to offer consistent, quality haircuts at a moment’s notice, according to its website supercuts.com

“It’s a place where the whole family can come to get a professional cut for a reasonable price,’’ Lader said.

Other services include waxing and coloring for both women and men with the men’s services designed as blending the gray, he said.

“A big portion of our business, up to about 70 percent is men,’’ he said.

Lader said he is encouraged by the staff of six stylists at the new salon, many who have been on board since opening day. He also praised the work of manager Renee Bostwick.

“A lot of times when you open up a new franchise, I heard there will be a lot of turnover during the first few months. We have done well and have almost kept everybody. Renee has a lot of experience and has really helped out. I don’t think we’d have been as successful without her,’’ Lader said.

After a career in the financial industry, Lader has long planned becoming a Supercuts franchisee as sort of a retirement plan.

“I love the thought of being my own boss. The agreement is for three locations, but I don’t want to stop there,’’ he said.

Lader plans the next Brevard location opening to occur in Palm Bay, he said.
