Brevard Watercolor Society provides opportunities for local artists

Published:

The Brevard Watercolor Society hopes to promote the beauty of watercolor painting and enrich the quality of life in the community through workshops, education and exhibitions.

The Brevard Watercolor Society (BWS) was established in 1995. The nonprofit is sponsored in part by the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners through the Brevard Cultural Alliance. It has almost 200 members.

Membership offers the opportunity to learn through demonstrations, Plein air events, free mini-workshops and three-day workshops offered at discounted fees. General meetings are held in January, March, May, September and November. The mini workshops are generally held on the fourth Saturday of each month (except June and July).

General meetings and mini workshops are free to members. For current information about dates and locations for all events, go to brevardwatercolorsociety.org.

Membership is open to anyone 18 or older. Membership runs by the calendar year of January through December. An individual membership costs $50 and a family membership is $60 if registered by June 30. From July 1 until Dec. 31, the membership fee is $25.  Student membership also is available for $25.
