The Rotary Club of Viera held its second annual Installation Dinner at Suntree Country Club on June 15 as outgoing president Lauren Hutto will become the communications director.

Diane Pisacano was sworn in as the new president.

“I value each and every one, family and friends and Rotarians,” Hutto said. “We had our ups and downs, and we lost an important member of the club. We participated in two Habitat for Humanity projects.’’

During the 2017-2018 Rotary year, the Rotary Club of Viera raised money for 10 laptop computers, hurricane mattresses, and served the community by giving gift cards to Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health of Florida.

Julia Babbit, the District 6930 Governor, gave the keynote address.

There are 35,000 Rotary Clubs throughout the world.

Besides Pisacano, others who were sworn in for 2018-2019 included Desire Stewart as president elect, Jenny Lucas as secretary, Judy Oberist as treasurer, Blake Stewart as the New Generations director and Roger Wilf as the foundation director.

Pisacano hopes to increase membership and connect more with the community.

Larry Smith was named the Rotarian of the Year, Wilf was given the Service
Award and Mary Ann Ferrara was given the Certificate of Appreciation as the founder of the Josh the Otter Project to encourage water safety and literacy.
