VIDEO: Missing in America Project lays to rest unclaimed remains

Published:

"Cape Canaveral National Cemetery hosted an interment ceremony for the cremains of 21 veterans and one veteran’s spouse, whose remains have been unclaimed for many years at an Indian River County funeral home. The event was sponsored by Florida's Missing in America Project (MIAP) with assistance from the Support Committee at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. This is the first such event held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery and is part of a countrywide effort by MIAP to locate unclaimed remains of veterans and their spouses and provide them with a dignified funeral with honors at national cemeteries. This group of 22 represents service in World War II, Vietnam and Korea as well as non-war periods and comes from the US Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard. The public was invited to witness the burial of these forgotten heroes." -- Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce
