New IHOP restaurant opens near Brevard Zoo
A new IHOP restaurant has opened just east of the entrance to the Brevard Zoo.
According to Janet Alexander, director of marketing and communications with IHOP, the new eatery opened at the footprint of what was formerly a Denny’s restaurant at 8201 N. Wickham Road.
Alexander, in an email to the Viera Voice, said the new establishment “will bring a minimum 80 new jobs to the area.”
IHOP, an iconic diner chain known mostly for its pancakes and other breakfast fare, also offers a menu of lunch and dinner items. The company has 1,650 locations, including three others in Brevard County.
IHOP is owned by Dine Brands Global Inc., an American publicly-owned corporation. It was founded in 1958, when Al and Jerry Lapin opened the first International House of Pancakes in Toluca Lake, California on July 7, 1958.
Dine Brands Global, Inc. (formerly DineEquity) brings together two of the world’s largest full-service restaurant brands -- Applebee's (established in 1980) and IHOP. With over 100 years of hospitality experience and expertise throughout 18 countries around the world, Dine Brands supports more than 3,700 Applebee's and IHOP restaurants and a 100 percent franchised system of nearly 400 franchisees, making it one of the largest full-service restaurant companies in the world.
According to the company’s website, for nearly 60 years, the IHOP family restaurant chain has served its world-famous pancakes and a wide variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner items that are loved by people of all ages. IHOP offers its guests an affordable, everyday dining experience with warm and friendly service.
From humble beginnings, there are IHOP restaurants in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan. IHOP’s international locations included Bahrain, Canada, Guatemala, India, Kuwait, Mexico, Panama, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Today, IHOP is the place where people connect over breakfast, enjoy study breaks, grab a bite before or after sporting events, and so much more. And no matter what menu items they order, there’s one ingredient that’s always constant -- a smile.
