Goodwill Industries of Central Florida has opened a Goodwill Donation Xpress Center at 7007 N. Wickham Road in Suntree.

The drop-off location, formerly the site of a Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, accepts donations of used clothing, books, electronics and other items.

Unlike Goodwill retail centers, the location is not a store, said Judith Pariseau, vice president of public relations for Goodwill Industries of Central Florida. Residents can pull up to the center’s drive-through area, where an attendant will unload their donations and provide them with a receipt and information for tax purposes. The items are then sent to Goodwill retail stores.

“It’s just a drop-off point to make it more convenient for people to donate to Goodwill, so we’re on their route if they’re on their way to work or on their way home or off to the kids’ softball game or whatever the case may be,” Pariseau said.

Center hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The center doesn’t accept after-hours donations, Pariseau said.

“We prefer that people come by between the hours of 7 and 7 so we can thank the donors for their donation and we can go ahead and process those items so they don’t get damaged by weather or something like that,” she said.

Other Goodwill Donation Xpress Center locations are at 1150 State Road A1A in Satellite Beach, 1400 W. New Haven Ave. in West Melbourne, and 4250 Minton Road and 3440 Bayside Lakes Blvd. in Palm Bay.

The closest Goodwill retail stores are at 4851 U.S. 1 in Rockledge and 1974 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne. Hours at both stores are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida was founded in 1959 and opened its first retail store soon afterward in Orlando.
