Dorcas Circle continues quest to help local charities in Brevard

The fall Attic Treasures and Bake Sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Suntree United Methodist Church at 7400 N. Wickham Road.

The Dorcas Circle consists of a group of approximately 50 women who meet monthly for the purpose of doing community service. Dorcas spent her life doing good deeds and helping the poor. The Circle’s mission is to follow Dorcas’ example.

Attic Treasures and Bake Sale items include small appliances, cookware, glassware, antiques/collectibles, seasonal items, jewelry, bedding, linens, books, toys, sporting goods, pictures, mirrors, silk flowers, CDs, DVDs, miscellaneous items and baked goods from Dorcas‘ finest bakers.

Proceeds from the sale will go to local charities such as the following:

• Daily Bread: A soup kitchen in Melbourne that feeds more than 200 people daily.

• Devereux: Provides behavioral, developmental, and residential care for children in the area.

•  Salvation Army Women’s Shelter: Provides assistance for victims of domestic abuse.

•  Gabrielle Place: Provides a home for the mothers and children and job training for mothers.

Donated items can be brought to the church Worship Center from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. Old computers, old telephones, old electronics and clothes are not accepted.
