Regular season begins for Viera, Holy Trinity football teams

Viera had its best season in 2013, going 8-2. This year, the Hawks are looking to make the playoffs for the first time.

Local football fans will get a chance to see both Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and Viera High open the regular season in Brevard County tonight.

The Hawks, fresh of a 14-3 victory over Merritt Island in their much anticipated Kickoff Classic, will face Rockledge High tonight at McLarty Stadium.

Holy Trinity, meanwhile, will play host to Father Lopez of Daytona Beach. The Tigers beat Class 7A Liberty 36-0 in their Kickoff Classic game last week.

Both regular-season openers are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
