The Viera/Suntree Little League Junior All-Stars entered the Southeast Regional on a hot streak … and they’re still smoking.

Sparked by a huge offensive performance, and a strong pitching effort by four players, the VSLL defeated West Virginia 16-3 in Friday’s opening round in Greenville, S.C.

BJ Lanza went 4-for-4 and a three-run double in the second inning by Eric Adler helped lead the winning effort. The team also got key hits from Mason Behrens, Logan Plante, Jackson Taylor, Jordan Allen, and Carson Warrix.

The VSLL batted around in each of the first two innings, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first and nine in the bottom of the second. Another run in the third closed out the scoring.

Connor Sheer opened the game on the mound for the VSLL and was followed by Taylor, Kyler Doane and Adler, who closed out a victory for the Florida Junior League state baseball champions.

“It’s phenomenal watching these guys play,” VSLL Player Agent Ken O’Neill said.

Next up for the VSLL is a second-round game in Pool B play against North Carolina. That game is set for 9 a.m. Saturday.
