BSYO auditions for fall season
The Brevard Symphony Youth Orchestra is beginning its 32nd year in offering ensemble opportunities for young musicians from ages 6 to 18 playing string instruments.
Auditions for students interested in participating with the BSYO will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 21 at Suntree United Methodist Church, 7400 N. Wickham Rd. Festivo and Chamber students will be expected to play a selection of his/her choice and scales.
Following the auditions, a Kick Off event to start the season will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 at Eau Gallie High School. Parents are expected to attend to review BSYO policies and volunteers may sign up to assist the BSYO. Activities during the kick-off event include training and team building in addition to ensemble practice.
Registration for the auditions is required and may be done online at bsyo.us. The cost for participating in the auditions and the kick-off event is $25 per student. The cost for the Kick Off event only is $15.
Rehearsals will be held at Suntree United Methodist Church on Monday evenings with the first rehearsal to be held on August 24.
Times: 5 to 6:15 p.m. for String Ensemble, 6:30 to 8 p.m. for Festivo Orchestra and 6 to 8:30 p.m. for The Chamber Orchestra.
