March of Dimes Space Coast Division is pleased to announce that Curt and Katie Jacobus have taken the role of Event Chairs for the Signature Chefs Auction. Katie is an attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Office of the State Attorney and Curt is an attorney with GrayRobinson, P.A.. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Jackson and Charley. Charley was born six weeks premature. While in the NICU at Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center Charley received the life-saving surfactant therapy, developed by the March of Dimes, to help her breathe. Their story will be shared at this year’s event.

Signature Chefs Auction brings together Brevard’s top executive chefs offering guests the opportunity to sample their “signature” dish. Live jazz band, wine samplings and opportunities to bid on unique auction items including our very special Fund the Mission, and raise funds to support the March of Dimes mission for stronger, healthier babies.

“Working with the March of Dimes is an honor and I know that we can surpass our $72,000 event goal this year. Signature Chefs Auction gives the community the chance to come together for stronger, healthier babies and make a difference in the lives of millions of babies,” said Katie. “I can’t think of a more important cause than healthy babies. The prevention of premature births can potentially save Brevard County businesses and families an estimated $7.9 Million annually in health care costs.”

Premature birth is the leading cause of newborn death. In Florida, one in eight babies is born premature, and that’s just not acceptable. We need leaders in our community working together to help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies.

Signature Chefs Auction will take place at the Hilton Rialto in Melbourne, on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014 from 6 to 9 p.m. For more information, make a tax-deductible donation or to become a sponsor, contact Gregory C. Stephens, Division Director at 321.426.6230 or visit marchofdimes.com/florida.
