The Suntree YMCA at 6300 N. Wickham Road, Suite 114, is accepting donations of gift-filled shoeboxes through Nov. 23 in support of Operation Christmas Child, an annual drive for needy children.
Individuals, families, churches and groups can drop off a shoebox in Suntree or at one of the Y’s 25 locations in Central Florida. Shoeboxes can include small toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. Empty shoeboxes are also available at each Y location and can be returned by Nov. 23.
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, collecting and delivering more than 113 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 130 countries. In 2014, the Y collected more than 25,000 gift-filled shoeboxes.
It's the 19th straight year that the YMCA of Central Florida has joined forces with Samaritan’s Purse, a North Carolina-based non-denominational Christian International Relief organization, in support of Operation Christmas Child.
