The Space Coast Symphony Winds will be "Honoring Our Heroes" on Veterans Day with a free patriotic concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Scott Center for the Performing Arts at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy (5625 Holy Trinity Dr.).  The free concert will feature music that honors the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces.  Concert-goers can expect to hear rousing marches by John Philip Sousa along with works by John Williams and other American composers. Also on the program are Battle Hymn of the Republic and Hymn to the Fallen from the film, "Saving Private Ryan."  Retired military bandleaders Colonel Hal Gibson and Commander Allen Beck will assist SCSO Artistic Director Aaron Collins with conducting duties throughout the evening. Gibson and Beck spent their careers leading the top military bands for the U.S. Army and Navy, respectively. Both are residents of Indian River Colony Club in Viera, known as a retirement destination for retired military officers.  The patriotic concert is free of charge. Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins hopes the community will turn out in large numbers on Veterans Day for the free patriotic concert.

"Our Veterans Day concert is about honoring all the men and women who have served in the U.S. military, including those who made the ultimate sacrifice," said Collins.  "I'll be sharing the stage with two outstanding conductors who retired here to the Space Coast after long and distinguished careers in uniform.  Colonel Gibson and Commander Beck continue to give back to their brothers and sisters in arms with community concerts like this one."
