Fresh Market opens Wednesday at Pineda Landings
Gourmet grocery store The Fresh Market has its grand opening at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the new Pineda Landings shopping plaza in Suntree, with free items for early birds.
The first 1,000 customers will receive a reusable shopping bag and a sample bag of fresh coffee, said Logan Holcomb, field marketing manager for The Fresh Market. Visitors also can register for $100 gift cards to be awarded through Sunday, he added.
Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting, the store will present a “cracking of the parmesan,” in which a store representative will cut a cheese wheel in half, then break off chunks for sale, Holcomb said. Customers can enjoy free samples throughout the store and watch chef demonstrations.
Founded in 1982, The Fresh Market tries to create the look and feel of a European-style open-air market stocked with fresh meats, seafood, fruits, vegetables and hard-to-find items from around the globe. Visitors can enjoy classical music and free samples of coffee while they shop.
“It’s all about the experience,” Holcomb said Tuesday during sneak-peek tour for Viera Voice.
The Fresh Market store offers more than 30 whole-bean coffee brands and a large selection of decaffeinated blends, a deli stocked with a variety of meats and more than 200 domestic and imported cheeses, a bakery, a section for candies, nuts and trail mix, and a produce section featuring more than 400 items and a large section of organic, locally or regionally grown items.
Signs are marked to let customers know whether a produce item is organic or conventional and where it was grown, Holcomb said.
The Fresh Market occupies 24,839 square feet of the 50,000-square-foot strip mall and has about 90 employees, Holcomb said. A Jersey Mike’s Subs and Allure Nails also are planned at the plaza. More tenants will be announced as they are confirmed, said Caroline Miller, director of marketing for Orlando-based real estate advisory firm and Pineda Landings developer BishopBeale.
