There’s more positive business news for the Viera-Suntree area in addition to the opening of an Earth Fare health and wellness supermarket at 5410 Murrell Road.

A new IHOP restaurant will soon be opening just east of the entrance to the Brevard Zoo. According to Janet Alexander, director of marketing and communications with IHOP, the new eatery will open in the footprint of what was formerly a Denny’s restaurant at 8201 N. Wickham Road.

Alexander, in an email to the Viera Voice, added that the new establishment “will be bringing at a minimum 80 new jobs to the area.” She added that IHOP was hoping to open the restaurant in May.

Beyond that, a new Culver’s restaurant is set to be constructed at 6451 Lake Andrew Drive in Viera, near the intersection with Judge Fran Jamieson Way, according to Paul Pitas, director of public relations and communications with Culver’s.

Per its website, Culver’s specializes in what they call “butterburgers” along with fresh frozen custard and Wisconsin cheese curds. Pitas added that the company expects the eatery to open in the late spring.

While some businesses were planning to open their doors, others were closing them.

The Pollo Tropical restaurant, located at The Avenue Viera, has closed. A note left on one of the doors of the building did state that “it’s never an easy decision to close a restaurant with loyal guests like you, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience.” The note also encouraged people to visit their West Melbourne location.

Additionally, the Beef O’Brady’s restaurant, also located in the same shopping center as Earth Fare at 5410 Murrell Road, was closed until further notice as of Dec. 24. A note was left on a door of the establishment indicating that the closure was due to a remodeling of the eatery.

The Burger 21 restaurant, located at 7171 Lake Andrew Drive in Viera, is temporarily closed. According to a note left on the front door of the establishment, the temporary closure is due to a remodeling.
