They gave it quite a run, but in the end, the players on the Viera-Suntree Little League All-Star Majors baseball team saw their season come to an end on Monday.

South Carolina broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to eliminate the VSLL 5-1 at the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Izzy Birru doubled home pinch runner Colton Marshall in the bottom of the sixth to give the VSLL its only run of the game.

Brennan Confreda also had a double for the VSLL. Micah Cheatham had two hits.

Brandon Reiter and Jonah Peacock also had hits for the VSLL.

Evan Lipski got the start and was followed by Austin Marshall, Confreda and Deaglan McBride.

South Carolina will advance to the second semifinal, where it will face previously undefeated Georgia on Tuesday. The winner of that game will advance to Wednesday’s championship game against Virginia, which defeated Georgia 6-5 on Monday.

While the VSLL may not have been able to fulfill its dream of reaching the Little League World Series, the players and coaches have a lot to be proud of after winning the district, sectional and state championships.

One thing is for sure, Birru; Robbie Caruso; Cheatham; Confreda; Finn Goldinger; Dominic Leoni; Lipski; Austin Marshall; Colton Marshall; McBride; Mikey Minarik; Peacock and Reiter represented Florida well at the Southeast Regional.
