Two state championships in one season.

It doesn’t get much better than that.

The Viera-Suntree Little League All-Star baseball and softball teams have had quite a summer … and it’s not over yet.

The VSLL Juniors baseball team defeated North Springs 5-0 on July 21 at Mitchell-Ellington Park on Merritt Island to win the state championship and claim a spot in the Southeast Regional, which is set for Aug. 2 to 6 in Broadway, Virginia.

That same week, the VSLL Majors will be playing in the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins, Georgia from Aug. 2 to 7. The Majors booked their ticket for the regionals by defeating Plant City 10-0 in the state title game.

“I’m extremely proud of the boys,” said VSLL President Charlie Gutierrez. “Quietly and through adversity, they just showed up.

“To get this far, it’s a blessing. It’s a testament to all their hard work and to all the coaches who are dedicated to these kids.”

In addition to the two state champions, VSLL players also were part of several District 2 winners.

The VSLL 50-70 (Intermediate) baseball team won its district title for the first time. Players on that team included: Aiden Baker; James Baxter; Carson Cruse; Jay Fowler; Alex Jacobs; Connor King; Brayden Kubiak; Colin Mutz; Landon Norton; Dom Piscitelli; Tyler Rosenberger and Nolan Taylor.

A Majors softball team that featured a roster combined of players from the VSLL, South Beaches and Beachside Little League advanced to the state tournament where it went 1-2. VSLL players from that team were: Cadyn Ennen; Morgan Galvin; Danielle Matthews; Jessie Panossian and Hayley Power.

The 9-11 softball team made up of players from the VSLL and Eau Gallie Little Leagues didn’t have to play a game to get to the state tournament as it went unopposed through district and sectional play. VSLL players on that team included: Zoey Allen; Ella Brand; Maddey Cruse; Kaitlyn Farinhas; Taylor Holtz; Shae Janke; Erin Lynch; Kendall Mix; Autumn Reynolds and Ava Teply.

As for the two teams headed to the Southeast Regionals, they are made up of:

Izzy Birru; Robbie Caruso; Micah Cheatham; Brennan Confreda; Finn Goldinger; Dominic Leoni; Evan Lipski; Austin Marshall; Colton Marshall; Deaglan McBride; Mikey Minarik, Jonah Peacock and Brandon Reiter.

Aaron Brand; Luke Campbell; Lucas Glendinning; Apollos Horrell; Luc Iten; Dylan Jordan; Logan Keith; Luke McDonough; Cameron Ruston; Cameron Simpkins; Cole Smith; Blake Strode; Brycen Weeks and Camden Wicker.
