This time, there was no drama.

The Viera-Suntree Little League All-Star Juniors baseball team scored five runs in the first inning on the way to a 7-1 victory over North Carolina on the second day of the Southeast Regional in Broadway, Virginia on Saturday.

Now 2-0 in the double-elimination tournament, the VSLL will face Tennessee – the only other undefeated team remaining -- at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

One day after a wild finish that resulted in 11-8, eight-inning win over Georgia, things went much differently on Sunday for the VSLL.

After North Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Cole Smith and Apollos Horrell walked to lead off the bottom of the inning. Luc Iten singled to load the bases and with one out, Logan Keith drew the third walk of the inning to score Smith and tie the game at 1-1.

Luke McDonough then came up with the big hit of the game, a three-run triple to left field. Camden Wicker then brought McDonough home with an infield out and the VSLL had a 5-1 lead.

Lucas Glendinning take care of the rest of the scoring, lining an RBI single to score Aaron Brand in the fourth, and delivering a sacrifice fly to score Smith in the sixth.

While the VSLL certainly had a good day at the plate, it also got a strong performance on the mound.

Smith got the start for the VSLL and went five innings, allowing one run and striking out one. Cameron Simpkins threw the final two innings, striking out three.
