VSLL Juniors blow out South Carolina for Southeast Region title

Here come the Viera-Suntree Little League Junior All-Stars.

The VSLL crushed South Carolina 16-1 in four innings Monday afternoon to win the Southeast Regional championship and advance to the Junior League Baseball World Series in Taylor, Michigan, Aug. 11-18.

Apollos Horrell went 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and got the win on the mound, allowing one run over four innings while striking out five.

Dylan Jordan, Camden Wicker and Lucas Glendinning all had two RBIs.

The VSLL scored five runs in the first inning, one in the second, two in the third and then put the game away with an eight-run fourth inning.

Wicker, Glendinning and Logan Keith each had RBIs in the big inning.

It was quite a tournament in Broadway, Virginia for the VSLL, which had to come from behind late to beat both Georgia and Tennessee, handled North Carolina rather easily and then blew out South Carolina.

Team members include: Aaron Brand; Luke Campbell; Glendinning; Horrell; Luc Iten; Jordan; Keith; Luke McDonough; Cameron Ruston; Cameron Simpkins; Cole Smith; Blake Strode; Brycen Weeks and Wicker.

The VSLL will face the East Region winner on Friday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. at Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan.

The East Region champion will be determined Tuesday when undefeated Maryland faces Massachusetts.
