Local fencers excel at tournaments

It’s been a good couple of months for members of the Genesis Fencing Club.

Abbie Shepard took a bronze medal in the Youth 10 Epee at the Super Youth Circuit in Atlanta.

Then, at the Black Widow event in Orlando, GFC members took home a host of honors. Rebekah Bucur not only won gold in the Foil Youth 14, she also took bronze in both the D (class) & Under Senior Women’s Epee and Foil.

Bronwyn Rees took gold in the D & Under Senior Women’s Epee, becoming the first GFC fencer to earn an E Class rating in the 2015-16 season.

In addition, Kiana Hall won the bronze medal in the Youth 12 Foil and Naomi Bucur got a bronze in both the Youth 12 Foil and the Youth 14 Foil.

Next up was the Regional Youth Circuit put on by the Stoccata Fencing Club in Orlando.

Naomi Bucur won gold in the Youth 12 Women’s Epee while Truli Thomas took the silver. Bronze medals went to Will Main (Youth 10 Men’s Epee), Rees (Youth 14 Women’s Epee) and Rebekah Bucur (Youth 14 Women’s Foil).
