Viera boys basketball tops Harmony in district quarters

Hawks will play Sebastian River in semifinals tonight

The Viera High boys basketball team is heading to the Class 6A, District 5 semifinals.

Cooper Davis scored 16 points and Avery Keith and Alex Nield provided solid play off the bench as the Hawks pulled away in the second half to defeat visiting Harmony 62-38 Tuesday night in quarterfinal action.

The Hawks (14-11), the No. 3 seed in the tournament, will face No. 2 Sebastian River (15-6) in tonight’s district semifinals. That game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start at Melbourne High.

The winner of the Viera-Sebastian River game will face the winner of tonight’s other semifinal between top-seeded Melbourne (16-9) and No. 5 East River (8-17) for the district title. The championship game is set for 7 p.m. on Friday at Melbourne.
