Viera High’s Ford named South Sectional Coach of the Year

Viera High girls golf coach Greg Ford has received a tremendous honor.

Associations has named Ford the 2014 South Sectional Girls Golf Coach of the Year after leading the Hawks to the Class The National Federation of State High School 3A state championship last season.

The section consists of eight states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

“I was very honored when I found out,” Ford wrote in an email. “I’m grateful to be chosen for such an honor and am proud to represent the school and the NFHS Southern Section.

“I also want to say that, without the hard work and dedication of the team, this honor would not have been possible.”

Viera was five shots better than Lake Mary at the Class 3A state tournament this past fall. It was the second championship in school history.

“Viera High School is very proud of Greg Ford and the outstanding girls golf program he has built,” Viera athletic director Chris Gallagher wrote in an email.
