FHSAA board reverses course, delays start of fall sports
Earliest teams can practice is Aug. 24
The FHSAA Board of Directors voted Thursday night to push back the start of fall sports until at least Aug. 24.

Fall sports were officially put on hold Thursday night as the Florida High School Athletic Association’s Board of Directors voted to delay the start of practice until at least Aug. 24.
The decision reversed the board’s vote earlier in the week to stick to the original schedule, which would have allowed teams to begin practicing and holding tryouts on Monday.
Teams will still be allowed to condition while they wait to see when their seasons will be allowed to resume. The FHSAA board agreed to meet in person somewhere between Aug. 10-17 to decide on its next move with input from the FHSAA Sports Medicine Advisory Committee and several other committees.
Should practice resume on Aug. 24, the earliest possible regular-season event would take place Sept. 7.
