Little League All-Star season set to kick off Saturday

Little League All-Star season is upon us.

The action is scheduled to kick off Saturday when District 2 tournament play kicks off for five different divisions, including Seniors Baseball, which will take place at Viera Regional Park.

The Viera-Suntree Little League team is set to play a team from the Greater West Melbourne Little League at 11 a.m.

Should the VSLL win, it would be scheduled to play again on Sunday against the Eau Gallie Little League, once again at 11 a.m. at Viera Regional Park.

Action in the double-elimination tournament is set to resume Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the first championship game to be played Wednesday. Should a second game be needed to decide the District 2 winner, it is set to be played on Thursday.

Also beginning tournament pool play this weekend will be the 8-10 baseball teams, who will hit the field at Rodes Park in West Melbourne. The VSLL Green team is set to play Eau Gallie at 11 a.m. on Saturday and the Greater West Melbourne Little League All-Stars on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

The VSLL Gold team is scheduled to open up pool play on Sunday at 11 a.m. against the Beachside Little League. The Gold are set to conclude pool play Monday night at 6:30 against South Beaches LL.

The top two teams in Pool A and Pool B will advance to the next round of the tournament, which begins on Wednesday, May 20.

Saturday is also scheduled to mark the first day of the 8-10 softball District 2 tournament at Crane Park. The VSLL team is set to play South Beaches at 11 a.m. with the winner of that game moving on to play Eau Gallie on Sunday.

The remainder of the tournament is set to be played Tuesday through Thursday.

The VSLL 9-11 baseball team will be off on Saturday but is scheduled to play on Sunday at 11 at Crane Park. Once again, the three-team tournament is set to conclude between Tuesday and Thursday.

This year’s Intermediate 50-70 baseball tournament will feature host Beachside Little League against the VSLL in a best three-out-of-five tournament format that is set to begin Saturday at 11 a.m.
