VSLL Juniiors blow game open late, top Eau Gallie 13-4
The Viera-Suntree Little League Junior Baseball All-Stars got a leg up on Eau Gallie in their best-of-five District 2 tournament Friday night.
Apollos Horrell broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth and the VSLL went on to win the game 13-4 at Viera Regional Park.
The VSLL now leads the series 1-0.
Aaron Brand, Horrell, Lucas Glendinning and Luke McDonough all had RBI hits in the sixth inning as the VSLL broke the game open by scoring six runs.
Glendinning went 3-for-4 to lead the VSLL. Horrell and Camden Wicker also had multiple hits.
The teams are scheduled to resume play on Sunday at 11 a.m.
In other games Friday …
The top-seeded VSLL Majors Baseball team defeated Palm Bay 16-0 on Friday at Rodes Park. The VSLL is scheduled to play South Beaches Little League Sunday at 9 a.m.
Also, Eau Gallie defeated the VSLL 13-10 in Juniors Softball in the third game of their series. The VSLL still holds a 2-1 lead and can clinch the title Monday night at 6:30 at Rodes Park.
No highlights were available for either game because coaches did not send in their information.
