Space Coast Crew captures the Brevard Cup

And achieves winning results at Florida State Sweep Cahmpionships

Brevard County’s own Space Coast Crew has added more hardware to their collection over the last two weekends, capturing the Brevard Cup and achieving record results at the Florida State Sweep Championships held in Sarasota’s Nathan Benderson Park. 

On April 18 Space Coast Crew battled crews from Melbourne High School, Sebastian River High School, St. Edwards and Vero Beach High School for the Brevard Cup at Canal-54 in Fellsmere.  Space Coast Crew captured the Men’s, Women’s and Team Cups for an unprecedented third year in a row. 

Over the April 25 - 26 weekend SCC also achieved record results for the club at the Florida State Sweep Championships. Rowers eligible to compete in the Florida State Sweep Championships are members of the Florida Scholastic Rowing Association (FSRA) - comprised of forty-five (45) schools and clubs.  FSRA Crews from around the state race a 1500 meter course during the two day event.  The races at this year’s event included; Women’s and Men’s Freshman, Junior & Varsity races.

Women’s Freshman 4  - State Champions

Women’s Varsity 8 - 6th in the State

Men’s 1st Varsity 8 – 11th in State

The success achieved by SCC at the Brevard Cup adds to the exceptional results achieved at Florida State Sculling Championships earlier this month (see results below).  On May 9 SCC will travel to Gainesville, GA to compete in the US Rowing Southeast Youth Championships for a chance to move on to Nationals in June.  To learn more about Space Coast Crew summer camps and row for free programs, visit
