The Viera/Suntree Little League 11-12 baseball All-Stars are one more win away from a district championship.

A 14-2 victory over Palm Bay West on Saturday, followed by a 15-4 semifinal win over a previously undefeated Eau Gallie squad has put the VSLL into the District 2 title game on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Max Rodes Park in West Melbourne.

The opponent will be the winner of tonight’s game between Palm Bay East and Eau Gallie.

After outscoring its opponents 28-2 in its two pool play games, the VSLL didn’t waste any time in getting after Palm Bay West.

Declan McDermott went 3-for-4 and helped blow the game open with a three-run homer in the second inning. That blast was followed by a solo home run by Peter Petracco, who had two hits on the day. JT Smith also had two hits for the VSLL.

On the mound, Liam Samuels, Ethan Huffman and Brett Anderson held Palm Bay West to two runs on just three hits.

Another strong hitting and pitching performance followed in the semifinal against Eau Gallie as the VSLL scored eight runs in the first inning while Matt Valdes and Ethan Huffman combined to allow four hits while striking out five over four innings.

Smith, Anderson and Petracco all had two hits for the VSLL while Huffman added a solo home run.
