VSLL All-Star Update: Three teams split early-round action

After splitting the first two games with South Beach, the Viera/Suntree Little League 10-11 All-Star baseball team will play for the District 2 championship on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Flutie Field.
Zach Jordan hit a solo home run and Evan Polacek, Josh Williams, Alex Toro and Justin Grove all had hits for VSLL in a 6-1 loss to South Beach last Sunday.
However, on Tuesday, the VSLL bounced back in a big way, scoring 11 runs in the top of the fifth inning for a 12-1 win. The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Jordan took a perfect game into the final inning before allowing two hits, but he still got the shutout with four strikeouts and no walks.
Toro went 2-for-4 and hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Tommy Collins added a three-run home run in that same frame.
Nathan Rao went 4-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jordan had a double and three RBIs. Steven Klassen, Nick Sicoli and Josh Williams all had a hit and a run scored for the VSLL.
9-10 BASEBALL (GREEN)
Mike Rappucci had two hits and four RBIs as the VSLL Green 9-10 baseball team defeated Palm Bay West 17-7 last Sunday.
Anthony Soehnlein went 2-for-2 with three walks. Blake Strode and Cooper Houvorous handled the pitching.
On Monday, the Green team lost 14-4 to South Beaches in a four-inning game that saw the VSLL team commit 12 errors – seven in just the first inning.
Joe Haggar struck out three batters in an inning of work. Kaden Canida had a hit.
9-10 BASEBALL (GOLD)
A 17-6 loss to Eau Gallie last Sunday was highlighted by Skyler Raley, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI double. Ian Kalra added a two-run single.
The VSLL would come back to beat Beachside 11-1 on Monday. Lucas Glendinning had two hits and three RBIs. Jack Malatino added a two-run single. Cole Smith struck out six, walked none and gave up three hits over five innings. Raley had an RBI single.
