Hardware store brings convenience to Viera/Suntree

The new Ace in Borrows West will be located at the corner of Stadium Parkway  and Porada Drive.

The iconic Ace Hardware store previously located at 5970 N. Wickham Road was once a place where area residents could go to get friendly customer service for their hardware needs from familiar faces.

That location closed in 2020. The property was sold and a Dollar General moved into the building after it underwent renovations.

In order to get to an Ace Hardware store, Suntree-Viera residents then had to travel 10 miles or more to either Cocoa, Merritt Island or Melbourne. Their only other option for hardware was the easy-to-get-lost-in big box DIY stores.

But that will all change in mid-2022 when Viera sees its first hardware store.

“There is no Ace Hardware in Viera and we need one,” said Hitesh Patel, the owner of the new hardware store. He has been in the hardware business for nearly 10 years. Patel owns four Ace Hardware stores, which are located throughout the state of Florida as well as three True Value stores in Brevard County.

Patel first moved to Titusville in 1993 to start a convenience store and gas station. In 2011, he created an independent insurance business, then in 2012 he started his first hardware business with four business partners.

Construction of the new Viera Ace Hardware building just broke ground in mid-November and is scheduled to finish in June 2022.

The new 12,000-square-foot store will be located at 5494 Lorkey Drive.

“It will be really convenient and accessible at the traffic light, easy to get in and to get out,” Patel said. “It will be near Stadium Parkway behind the Chick-fil-A.”

The store will feature hardware, of course, as well as propane, a garden center, the Big Green Egg and high-end lawnmowers.

“This is not your typical hardware store. It’s going to be a beautiful building,” Patel added. “This is the future. It will be a brand-new building and will bring 20 new jobs.”

Some of the popular brands that are sold at Ace Hardware are Yeti coolers and drinkware, Toro and Ego brand power tools, Craftsman, DeWalt, and Milwaukee brand tools, Weber Grills and Traeger Wood Fire Grills.

“Every time we create something new, another business, this helps the economy,” Patel said.
