It’s easy to think of all summer drinks being overly sweet — but that doesn’t have to be the case.

The Summerlin, also known as the Jungle Bird, welcomed visitors to the Kuala Lumpur Hilton in the 1970s. The drink took a few decades to gain popularity, but now many old-fashioned cocktails are making a groovy comeback.

The rum is the star here, but fresh lime and pineapple juice are a must. The magic happens with the touch of bitterness the Campari adds — so don’t omit that. The pineapple juice takes it over the top.
