Spring warmth brings fun fishing in the Indian River Lagoon as speckled trout, redfish and snook are feeding before spawning season.
These are delicious fish and can make everyone happy at the dinner table.
Lunker trout can be caught from Titusville to Jupiter, with snook a popular catch from Sebastian Inlet southward.
With a dry winter, water levels have remained low and the water has been clean. Snook and seatrout can be found around mangrove shorelines and docks.
Areas where the depth changes from shallow water to deep water are pleasant and productive places to cast a line. Large sandbars with steep drop-offs also are good places to put in a pole.
Lady fish, black mullet and blue crabs are good baits to use. Artificial lures also are effective. Try mirrolure lil Johns and D.O.A. paddle tails.
