The Brevard Schools Foundation has announced its finalists for 2021-2022 Teacher, Rookie Teacher, Emerging Teacher and Employee of the Year for Brevard Public Schools.
Teacher of the Year finalists are Anita Jordan, fifth-grade teacher at Oak Park Elementary; Sara Murano, exceptional student education teacher at Palm Bay High Magnet School; Lisa Rickett, math teacher at DeLaura Middle School; Ruby Riviera, specific learning disabilities teacher from Discovery Elementary School; Meghan Roberts, behavior specialist at Suntree Elementary School; and Alexandria Wicker, science teacher at Jackson Middle School.
Rookie Teacher of the Year finalists are Taylor Jenkins, Cambridge Elementary Magnet School; Andrew West, Jackson Middle School; and Cheyenne McCully, Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School.
Emerging Teacher of the Year finalists are Karl Webb, Discovery Elementary School; and Alexandria Wicker, Jackson Middle School.
Employee of the Year finalists are Pete Baxley, tech network associate, Central Middle School; Lannie Bravo, instructional assistant, McNair Magnet School; Officer Jennifer Imperato, school resource officer, Ocean Breeze Elementary School; Devin Smith, cafeteria manager, Freedom 7 Elementary School; Jessica Diana Wangh, school secretary, Westside Elementary School; and Christian Wright, bookkeeper, Hoover Middle School.
Winners, including Volunteer of the Year from nominees chosen by each school, will be announced in February. The foundation will have three “Applauding Brevard's Champions” (ABC) events: the Employee of the Year Celebration at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Rockledge Country Club at 1591 S. Fiske Blvd.; the Teachers Summit at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Hilton Melbourne at 200 Rialto Place; and a Gala at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Hilton Melbourne.
