Second Senior Life Drive-Thru Expo a hit in Titusville

COVID-19 could not stop the Senior Life Drive-Thru Expo in Titusville from being anything less than a success.

After the great result of the first Drive-Thru Expo held at The Avenue Viera, Senior Life was ready to spread the cheer. From the start, there was a shared atmosphere of excitement and anticipation.

Many of those who attended in Titusville spoke of how much they appreciated events like this since it gave them a chance to leave their homes and interact with others.

One attendee, Sudella Gilmore of Titusville, was thrilled at the opportunity.

"You don’t even have to get out of your car," she said. "I enjoy doing this."

Well before the 8 a.m. start time for the Oct. 2 event, vehicles were wrapped around the bend just outside of American Police Hall of Fame in Titusville. Tent stations and organization representatives were lined up to greet, share information, hand out resource material and giveaways. Among the sponsors of the event were Humana, Parrish Healthcare and Guardian Ad Litem.

Dave Thorton of Indialantic was pleased with all the Expo had to offer saying, "Love to come to one place and have a lot of information available to us."

Amy Xaychaleune, a violinist with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, provided live music at the Expo.

Participants at the event wore masks and practiced social distancing to help ensure the safety of attendees.

Cars slowly moved through the Expo, stopping at each tent to briefly talk with the hosts and receive information packets. For some participants, it was their first real event since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

"So happy to interact with the community today," said Kiara of Parrish Healthcare. "Great weather, great music, overall great day."

Senior Life also had a special raffle for a Space Coast Eco Tour for four. All participants left with their Big Red Bag stuffed with information and giveaways.

For those who missed the first two Senior Life Drive-Thru Expos, one more will be held after an Oct. 16 event:

  • From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Nov. 6 at Melbourne Square Mall.
