Space Coast United Soccer takes home two Florida Cup titles

The Space Coast United Soccer Club is sending two teams to the National Cup Championship Series.

The SCU’s U16 girls and U17 boys teams won the Florida Cup championship Sunday at Viera Regional Park.

A total of 28 teams played in Sunday’s final round with Space Coast United being represented by six teams in their respective age groups.

The U16 boys lost 3-2 in overtime to Miramar. The U14 girls, U17 girls and U18/19 girls also lost and came in second place.

In the U16 girls game, SCU got another strong defensive performance in a 2-0 win over Florida Premier. Nina Lopez had a goal and an assist for SCU. Taylor George also scored and JoHannah Peterson had an assist.

The U17 boys game also saw SCU keep a clean sheet. Noah Spaulding, Johann Moise and Yorgen Torres all scored in a 3-0 victory over Tampa Bay United. Christian Guirgis, Moise and Logan Collins all had assists.

The winning teams will represent the state of Florida in the National Cup Championship Series, which is scheduled to be played July 16-20 in Commerce City, Colorado.
