The march toward what they hope will be a spot in the state tournament continued for the members of the Viera High girls golf team on Wednesday.

Freshman Hannah Hall shot 74 to win the individual championship and senior Brittany Odic added an 82 to finish third as the Hawks won the Class 3A, District 8 championship at the Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach.

Junior Vivial Luu shot 90 to finish eighth for the Hawks. Sophomore Margaux Blais was 11th with a 92. Junior Kapree Shepherd was next for the Hawks with a score of 101.

Viera’s team score of 338 easily outdistanced second-place Vero Beach, which came in at 348. Martin County was third with a 387.

It’s the second postseason title for the Hawks, who also won the Cape Coast Conference championship. That tournament, played over just nine holes, saw the Hawks run away with the title. Viera finished with a 166 while second-place Cocoa Beach came in at 190.

Once again, Hall had the low score of the event, taking the CCC individual title with a 36. Luu shot 37 that day to finish tied for second.

Odic shot 41 to come in fourth. Blais was 13th with a 52.

Next up for the Hawks will be the Class 3A, Region 2 tournament at the Royal St. Cloud Golf Links on Tuesday.
