Viera volleyball to face Merritt Island in Pink Game Tuesday night

Sydney Williams and the Viera Hawks are scheduled to host the Merritt Island Mustangs Tuesday night at 7:15 in the 16th Pink Game. Proceeds from the night will benefit breast cancer research.

The Pink Game is always one of the most anticipated nights on the Viera High volleyball schedule.

And after a year off because of COVID, it’s back.

The Hawks (12-7) are scheduled to host the Merritt Island Mustangs (17-6) Tuesday night in a meeting between two of Brevard County’s top volleyball programs that should feature some high-level play.

The freshman game is scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m., followed by the JV match at 6:15. The varsity clash is set to begin at 7:15.

“I’m so excited to have the Pink Game back after a year off from COVID,” Viera coach Sarah Wayne wrote in an email.

“Not only will it be a great match, but we are hoping to raise as much as we can for the Side-Out Foundation. All proceeds from concession, T-shirt sales as well as silent auction baskets will go towards the fight against breast cancer.

“This game means a lot to me and it has become a tradition here at Viera High School. I’m looking forward to our 16th Pink Game.”
