VSLL Majors baseball rallies past South Beaches in District 2 All-Star tournament

Brady Jensen, shown here jumping out of the way of an inside pitch against Palm Bay East, had two hits and drove in a run as the Viera Suntree Little League Majors All-Star baseball team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat South Beaches 4-2 on Sunday in a District 2 tournament game.

The Viera Suntree Little League Majors All-Star baseball team is now 2-0 in pool play after rallying past South Beaches Sunday morning.

Coby Wallace went the distance on the mound and came up with a big hit late in the game as Viera Suntree scored four runs in the fifth inning to defeat South Beaches 4-2 at Rodes Park in West Melbourne.

Wallace struck out 12 and allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) in his first start in the District 2 tournament.

Trailing 2-0 going into the fifth inning, the VSLL got a lead-off single from Nathan Harriman, who would advance to second on a throwing error.

Brady Jensen then delivered a one-out RBI single to score Harriman with Viera Suntree’s first run. A double by Brody Vogel tied the game at 2-2.

Viera Suntree would take the lead on a wild pitch and Wallace made it 4-2 with a two-out, RBI single.

For the game, Jensen went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Noah Renes had a hit, a walk and scored a run. Vogel had a double and a run scored. Luca Bongiovi also had a single.

The VSLL returns to action Tuesday night at 6:30 against Greater West Melbourne, then closes out pool play on Wednesday night against Eau Gallie.
