Flags at half-staff to honor FBI special agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger

On Feb. 2, 2021, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger were killed in the line of duty in Sunrise, Florida. Their careers exemplified heroic records of bringing justice to the perpetrators of crimes against children. Their ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
 
In his twelve years of service in the FBI, Special Agent Alfin rescued many children from horrific circumstances. He led an investigation on one of the country’s largest child pornography operations that resulted in hundreds of arrests worldwide.
 
Special Agent Schwartzenberger joined the FBI in 2005. For seven years, she investigated crimes against children. As a passionate protector of the children of our state, she frequently spoke to children in Florida schools about online safety.
 
To honor Special Agent Laura Schwartzenberger, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the City Hall of Parkland, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, from sunrise on to sunset on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.
